Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Automated Quality Engineer to join our team, focusing on the quality, reliability, and security of our enterprise APIs and integrations. You will design, develop, and execute comprehensive test automation strategies for NestJS-based APIs and their integrations with the Fineos Claims Management System.

In this role, you will be a key contributor to our CI/CD pipeline, ensuring our software meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and compliance. The ideal candidate has strong test automation skills, deep API testing experience, and hands-on knowledge of Fineos Claims integrations.


About the Project

You will work closely with a Senior Data Pipeline Engineer and cross-functional teams to validate integrations between Fineos, AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift), and enterprise systems. This project ensures claims data is accurate, secure, and available for operational and analytics use cases. The role covers API testing, data validation, functional/regression testing, and automation frameworks providing growth opportunities in complex insurance technology systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end test automation frameworks for NestJS-based REST APIs.

  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of Fineos Claims APIs.

  • Collaborate with developers, API integration engineers, and business analysts to define test strategies and acceptance criteria.

  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure continuous quality checks.

  • Perform API security and performance testing, including vulnerability and load testing on APIs and gateways (APIM, KONG).

  • Validate data integrity and accuracy in integrations, with attention to the Fineos data model and proper handling of PII.

  • Contribute to TDD practices and provide technical guidance on QA best practices.

  • Identify, document, and track defects, working closely with the development team for timely resolution.


Must-Have Qualifications & Skills

  • 3 years in an automated QA / Quality Engineering role with a strong focus on API testing.

  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools (Postman, Jest, Vitest, REST Assured, PyTest, or similar).

  • Experience testing NestJS / TypeScript APIs.

  • Strong understanding of REST API principles, security, and performance testing methodologies.

  • Proven experience with enterprise system integrations, particularly Fineos Claims API and data model.

  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines for test automation using GitHub Actions.

  • Proficiency with Git/GitHub for version control and collaboration.

  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3) for testing and deployment validation.

  • Solid understanding of insurance domain workflows and business processes.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience in an Agile SDLC environment.


Good to Have

  • Experience with other enterprise system integrations (SAP, CPAY, FileNet, CoFax).

  • Exposure to AI technologies, e.g., GitHub Copilot, for test automation or development assistance.

  • Prior experience in Agile development environments.

  • Based in Toronto, Canada, but fully remote candidates available during EST hours are welcome.
